On November 14 and 15, One Nest Stand: Leave Your Body at the Door will be on view at Nest in Laak. Over the past weeks, eight Fine Arts students from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) have developed a group exhibition, which will be on display for two days at Nest in Laak.

They were guided by guest curator Maia Kenney and artist Ariadne Randall. Randall led the group in an inspiring workshop on what it means to be an artist when you realise that you have no control over how your work is interpreted. Ariadne shared the insights and tools she has gathered over the years that have been useful to her in creating new work. The group also explored Raving by McKenzie Wark, in which Wark describes the rave as a collective, transformative experience where body, sound, and community merge beyond the logic of everyday life. Drawing from these ideas, the eight KABK artists created an experimental exhibition that takes its title from one of the artworks. Leave Your Body at the Door is a fluid and shifting experience presenting works across multiple disciplines, including performance, sound, music, and installation art.

The opening will take place on Friday, November 14 at 8:00 PM, and One Nest Stand: Leave Your Body At The Door can be visited on Saturday, November 15 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a public programme starting from 5:00 PM.

About One Nest Stand

One Nest Stand is an annual exhibition hosted and organised by Nest in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. KABK students respond to an existing exhibition at Nest, translating its central themes into new work. Throughout the process, students are guided by professional coaches and curators.

Originally, One Nest Stands were single-evening events. Today, they are presented over the course of a full weekend.

Maia Kenney

Maia Kenney is a Polish American curator, educator and writer based in Amsterdam. She has been the curator and editor of digital artistic platform The Couch and teaches queer feminist theory and writing at Design Academy Eindhoven. Her work explores the possibilities for class and intersectional struggle within the arts. She therefore spends much of her time trying to slow things down, more or less unsuccessfully.

Ariadne Randall and McKenzie Wark

Nest is collaborating with Ariadne Randall on a weekend-long program at Nest in Laak, scheduled for spring 2026. For this, Randall is developing a new project on transformation, identity, and culture, building on her series Reverse Cowgirl, in collaboration with writer McKenzie Wark and choreographer Nis Bender. Inspired by her personal experience with gender transition, she explores change in both nature and society, using sound, text, and performance as tools for reflection and resistance.
