Nesting Habits - the space

In september 2026 Nest launched Nesting Habits – The Space: a new permanent meeting place within Nest, where visitors can explore the exhibition and its themes in greater depth, whether alone or in conversation with others.

The name Nesting Habits naturally evokes the instinct to build a nest. Just as animals create safe places in which to protect their young, we hope to foster an environment where ideas, perspectives and different ways of seeing the world can be shared, nurtured and developed. At the same time, the title refers to a lyric by Nick Cave, in which nesting habits refer to a place where longing, everyday life and the world's chaos converge.

Nesting Habits – The Space is intended as just such a place: one for encounter, reflection and exchange. It will become the permanent home of Nest’s Infinite Library, our lending library, where visitors can consult publications on the artists, exhibitions and themes at the heart of our programme. The space will also host screenings, lectures, debates and workshops for all ages. Like the new artist talk series And Other Stories, the workshops of Verwend Nest or the events of Verbonden Verleden.

Ariane Toussaint has designed new curtains especially for the space, while Remco Osório Lobato has created its interior design. This design will further develop over the next few months.
